As an entrepreneur, I spend a large part of my day coming up with ideas. I spend another large part of my day listening to people tell me why those ideas won’t work. Typically my next step is to find a way around that hurtle.
Personal training is the same exercise — finding ways around the obstacles that keep my clients from exercising. Clients tell me what they want to achieve and I find out why they are having difficulty achieving them. From there, I find a way to remove the obstacle.
Physical limitations are often easier to overcome than mental ones, because it is just a matter of physiology and science. I know that if I put a load on your muscle it will get stronger and more metabolically active. However, trying to relax can be difficult if you do not know how to shut down your mind.
What do we do when it’s our minds that present the greatest obstacle? A trainer can provide the plan and sets up situations where you the client experiences success. Thus setting up a pattern that creates confidence and a belief in yourself. Our inner voice often reminds us of our failures and paralyzes our actions.
